Accessibility

We are a Disability Confident employer and aim to be as accessible to as many people as possible. Most of our site is on one level, with ramps to the museum, cafe, shop, and toilets suitable for mobility scooters and wheelchair users.

For visitors with a visual impairment, we operate a spoken tour with a handling collection and many hands-on activities outside, that are optional for those with sensory and stimulatory concerns. We also provide English tour sheets and have activity sheets upon request for younger visitors.

Seating is available throughout the site, and our guides are on hand to make sure your visit is as easy and lovely as possible.

If you have any concerns, please email info@crannog.co.uk, or call 01887 440231. We look forward to seeing you soon!

What's On

The Scottish Crannog Centre holds a wide Event Program throughout the year, including day events for special occasions, evening events and special take over events as well. All events are included in standard ticket prices unless stated otherwise.

Schools at the Crannog

The Scottish Crannog Centre welcomes your class onto our site to explore the Iron Age!

We cater to school groups of all ages.

We excel at engaging pupils by having multiple small groups and a huge variety of hands-on learning activities throughout the day. These can vary from wire jewellery and pottery making to handling two-thousand-year-old artefacts and boar hunting! All of these are set into the context of the curriculum and can be tailored to specific topics upon request.

Further to this, we have the capacity to design introductory and pre-visit classes to set the tone and get the pupils ready for their day out at the Crannog Centre.

”I arranged for my school class to visit the Crannog Centre. The staff were extremely accommodating and closed the museum to the public so that we could have exclusive use of the whole site. The day was so well organised and the staff and volunteers were knowledgeable and helped the children see the elements of life in the Iron Age. The hands-on activities were engaging and everyone came away from the day having learned a lot.

The centre is a great way to learn about the past and it was probably one of the best school visits I have ever attended.

Thank you so much for a great day!“
