We welcome school groups of all ages at the Centre where expert guides 'Inspire, Educate and Inform' through living history.
School visits to the Crannog combine a sensory experience which is both unique and powerful.
Expert guides transport children back in time through hands-on experience enabling greater engagement and stimulation. The children are encouraged to dress in our Iron Age style clothing to really become immersed in life 2500 years ago.
Our core information regarding Crannogs, life on the loch in prehistory, trading, farming and more can all be tailored to suit study modules.
In addition to core activities, schools can combine their visit with a workshop led by the Museum's schools team to include the following activities at a nominal additional cost:
Adornment: Pendant-Making, Pouch-Making and Jewellery-making
Farming: Ploughing, Grain-Grinding, Threshing, Baking Bread
Fibres: Felting, Nettle String and Bast Rope
