Greenwood and Timber Framing Course in February

Mike Ellis of Helmsdale Charcoal and Coppice will lead a Greenwood and Timber Framing Course at The Scottish Crannog Centre in February. The aim of the course is to build an Iron Age style shelter for use on site.

The Scottish Crannog Centre is delighted to host a unique opportunity to learn greenwood and timber framing skills using round wood with the aim of building an 'Iron Age' style shelter. 

The course will be lead by Mike Ellis of Helmsdale Charcoal and Coppice and held over 1 week from 19th to 23rd February and 26th February to 2nd March.

Mike has written and runs Scotland's only nationally accredited courses on 'Traditional Woodman's Coppice and Greenwood Skills' and will be teaching greenwood and timber framing skills using traditional greenwood tools.  There will also be the chance to learn charcoal-making.

19th to 23rd February 2018
26th February to 2nd March 2018

Cost:
£200 per person to include tuition and use of traditional tools.
If you would like to attend both weeks, a £100 discount will apply. 

Accommodation: 
Local accommodation is available for up to 6 people sharing at The Big Shed, Tombreck, Lawers and can be arrange through the Centre.  Charges are £10 per person per night.

The course will proceed with a minimum number of 3 and maximum number of 8 participants.
