June continues to be busy for the Crannog community. Here's a brief overview of where we are going and what we will be doing.
Saturday 2nd June: Outreach 7 Lochs Drumpellier Park Glasgow - discover all about the 2,500 plants excavated at Oakbank Crannog and their traditional use. Prehistoric farming techniques and tasters of freshly made bannocks and butter.
Saturday 9th June: Crieff Market - Visit our stall full of the wonderful and unusual items we sell in our gift shop.
Saturday 9th June: Loch Tay Young Archaeologists' Club - Osteoarchaeology - use of bones and bodies plus reconstructing a skeleton!
Monday 11th June: Bronze Axe Making workshop - focusing on the history and development of the axe throughout history with a hands-on demonstration of hafting bronze axes and iron axes and casting a bronze axe using historic techniques. Thursday 21st June: Midsummer Music Night - this very special night of music features Ruth Mackay and Mad Ferret plus bring your own acoustic instrument for an open-mic session and prehistoric instrument making workshop. Booking essential - either call us or click here for online booking.
Saturday 23rd June: Loch Tay Young Archaeologists' Club - Field trip to Errichel House to visit a site of unexplored archaeology.
Sunday 24th June: Outreach at Dundee Law Iron Age Hillfort - join the team as we travel to the Dundee Law to recreate the Iron Age Hillfort to highlight Iron Age tin-casting and cookery.
