ARTEFACT OF THE MONTH:
SWANS NECK PIN
This prehistoric extravaganza represents our Signature Event to celebrate the 20th anniversary of the Scottish Crannog Centre. Expert demonstrations of metalworking, prehistoric pot-making, textiles, basketry, cooking, beads, jewellery, adornment, dug-out canoe trips and much more. Our celebratory Artisan Village will also feature a Market Place where you can purchase many of the 'one-of-a-kind' hand-made craft items made or on display at the village.
The Crannog Roundhouse was originally constructed as an archaeological experiment following discoveries underwater at Oakbank Crannog in Fearnan. Once constructed it was decided to open it up to the public so everyone could see how our ancestors lived some 2,500 years ago. Since then the Crannog has grown into an internationally renowned focal point for those wishing to discover more about Scotland's rich and exciting prehistory: 'Entertaining', 'Enlightening' and 'Educational' are words often used by visitors to describe the Scottish Crannog Centre and its engaging activities.
More news on the Artisan Village will be posted so please watch out for more details.
